The food fair held at Suzhou Center gathered the best-loved food brands of Singapore. The dazzling food products deeply impressed the visitors.

The booth of Kim Guan Guan Coffee, a traditional coffee brand of Singapore, attracted lots of coffee lovers.

“In Singapore, coffee is called ‘kopi’. The Singaporeans like starting a day with a cup of coffee. Our coffee beans are stir-fried with sugar, salt and butter so that the coffee has a strong aroma but no astringency,” the staff enthusiastically gave introductions to the guests.

Kacang puteh, an assorted mix of nuts and snacks, were sold on a small cart pushed here and there by the vendor. Roasted green soya beans, white peanuts, chickpeas and other ingredients were served in a paper cone.

Kacang puteh directly translates to “white nuts”. Its history actually goes all the way back to the 1940s, where British immigrants brought migrant laborers to Malaya from Tamil Nadu. Later, the laborers set up stands along the streets, selling these chickpeas along with a whole array of delicious Indian snacks.

The Musang King Durian, a tropical fruit native to Southeast Asia and known for its creamy, rich flavor and distinct aroma, was popular with the visitors.

“It is so delicious that I hope I can take more home,” said Ms. Xu, who bought not only the durian, but also durian jam and ice-creams.

The Nyonya Kuih , colorful cakes of various tastes, won the favor of many people, too.

In addition, the live stream on July 14 gave the audiences a specific introductions to the food, cultures and tourist attractions of Suzhou and Singapore.
