The 2025 China-US Young Maker Competition Suzhou Division Final was held at   Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, SIP on June 28.

The China-US Young Maker Competition, an annual event initiated by the Ministry of Education of China in 2014, is aimed at offering global young people a chance to showcase their ideas and inventions focusing on sustainability of human society, such as those for community development, education, environmental protection, healthcare, energy utilization and transportation. From 2017, the Suzhou tryout of the event is held in Suzhou Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation District in SIP.

The Suzhou leg of this year’s event, launched in May, attracted 129 projects from 61 universities including Southeast University, Zhejiang University and Soochow University, and 43 projects from 21 universities gained entry to the final.

After onsite expert evaluation and project presentation, a project from Zhejiang University garnered the first prize, and another project from the university and the projects from SIP-based SIP Industrial Technical School and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University tied for the second place.

A total of seven projects will compete in the finals of the 2025 China-US Young Maker Competition scheduled in late July.
